PULLEY BOXES

STAYS, SLIDERS & RUNNERS
We have an in-house production of stays that are crafted from air-dried, straight-grained Ash. Our production processes are versatile and can accommodate various types and varieties of stays. Ash sliders are steam bent of English Ash, and runner boards are of Sapele. For more information, Click the button below.
CEILING BOSSES
Our ceiling bosses are produced in turned Aluminium and are designed to reduce rope noise, and prolong the life of your ropes. We only use high spec aerospace grades of aluminium to provide the absolute best. Ceiling bosses are also available in hardwood upon request.
MAIN BEARINGS & GUDGEONS
Our company is proud to exclusively use high-quality precision bearings. We ensure true alignment of our turned steel gudgeons in cast iron headstocks through a machined Morse taper and draw nut.
For fabricated headstocks and timber headstock gudgeon boxes, we use a setting bar to guarantee true alignment. This commitment to precision ensures that our products are of the highest quality and built last.
Timber Shafted Clappers
Our timber shafted clappers are a seamless blend of science and art, thoughtfully designed to make ringing up "right" effortless while maintaining the clappers' responsiveness.
These clappers produce a resonant and harmonious sound, particularly in bigger bells like the 32cwt tenor bell at Maidstone, Kent, as illustrated here. You can count on us to supply you with exceptional timber clappers that will deliver, every time.
HEADSTOCKS
Our headstocks are produced in either fabricated steel, cast iron, or timber. They ensure secure mounting of the bell to the bearings and frame, and enable us to perfectly balance the bells and set the correct swing speeds so that a peal of bells will be a joy to handle for all ringers. Pictured here is the treble bell of Corby (Left) with its steel headstock that we produced. We also produce steel Cannon retaining headstocks where a bell is listed as being of historical importance.
FRAME PAINTING
O'Shea Engineering provides clients with a competitively priced, expert frame striping and painting service. We use only the highest quality machine enamel paint in our work, going over every detail of the frame, cleaning out all the little nooks and crannies that often get missed.
A base coat of red oxide primer is applied, followed by a top coat of high quality, gloss machine enamel.
The wood work is given a thorough treating, and as an extra touch, the bells are then painted in water based matte black masonry paint which will leave your installation looking very smart indeed.
SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE
We provide a comprehensive maintenance and inspection service for all types of bells and installations. From one off maintenance to annual servicing contracts, we go around the entire installation and make sure everything is in good and safe working order. Our maintenance and servicing concludes in a written report with quotes for any further work that may be needed.
CLAPPERS AND CROWNSTAPLES
We can supply brand new SG iron clappers properly graded to suit the installation in your tower. The clappers play an important role in the striking of of a bell and indeed a whole peal. We also supply fabricated steel crown staples, adjustable crown staples to correct odd-struckness and timber or HDPE shafted clappers which aid in getting bells up correctly. We also offer a full clapper refurbishment service. All aspects of our clapper work is undertaken with OCD like care and attention. As they are usually the last thing to go into a ringing installation, it is important that they work properly first time. This we feel, is one of the many areas that we excel at.
